Purpose!

It's not like you haven't heard it before. God has a plan for your life. A purpose. "For I know the plans I have for you..." is proof that He does. More than cliche, this is Truth. I'm just curious as to what happens when you come to realize that you don't know what that "purpose" is anymore.

What do you do with the hopes and dreams inside your heart that are unrealized? All those "encouraging words" of others cheering you on to be that dancer, singer, youth leader, nurse, scientist, etc., seem to get lost and lie dormant in the process somehow. There are times when you compare yourself with others who you think are realizing their dreams and you question what happened to you and yours? Sometimes you feel as though you've settled or short-changed yourself along the way.

You gave up keeping a record of all your "attempts" at success. You begin to question your ability to hear from God and don't consider that you never listened in the first place. Now what? At this point you have no idea. Seriously. None whatsoever. Where is the hope? How are you supposed to have a vision when you're blind to it? Is it fair to say that your life is illustrated by the picture above?

Believe it or not; it's a good thing that your dreams have died and you don't feel like you have any purpose at all. For it is in this moment that you open your heart to the hope and the promise that HE IS the one with the plan and the purpose for your life. Up until now you've relied on supposition and assumption. Now, is the moment when you humble yourself before Him and ask Him to reveal it to you. You're ready! Or are you? Because unless and until you're ready to accept His plan and purpose for your life over your own, you won't be.

However, if you know...that you know... that you know... you are, then Almighty God, Creator of the Universe, Creator of you and who loves and knows you intimately can show you what that purpose is. And so with a newly-discovered "reverential fear", you ask. This is where you must understand that His plan and purpose are His plan and purpose. They are not yours or mine. If He has a plan and purpose, He will fulfill it. He will work it out in and through You because it is His after all. All you need to do is believe.
